Manager, Clinical Advisor (Hybrid)

Resp & Qualifications

Clinical Advisor Manager is responsible for the daily management, coaching, and development of the Clinical Advisors. This role is responsible for managing initiatives and direct marketing of developed programs that frequently involve other internal departments, external accounts, brokers and consultants, and vendors.


  • Responsible for the daily management of the Clinical Advisors.  Attends client engagements with Clinical Advisors to gauge their performance, provide coaching and development in order to improve business results.

  • Collaborates with a variety of stakeholders within Sales, Marketing and other business units for the purpose of managing key initiatives and projects, and timely support of escalated account related issues to ensure the successful implementation and operationalization of a goals and objectives. 

  • Builds and maintains solid professional relationships with key personnel within the accounts, sales, consultants and brokers.

  • Implements, coordinates and facilitates activities, learning opportunities, projects and SOP’s related to the Clinical Advisors scope of work with a focus on education and communication.

  • In conjunction with Sales, establishes, monitor and measures survey results to improve overall client satisfaction and drive implementation and action planning to achieve higher satisfaction scores. Partners with the distribution channel to facilitate consistency in messaging of the value proposition.     Participates in cross functional workgroups to facilitate consistency in messaging of the value proposition across business units.

This position manages people.


Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Social Work OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Licenses/Certifications Upon Hire Required:
RN  - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/or Compact State Licensure 
LCSW- License Clinical Social Worker  


  • 5 years experience in healthcare and/or consulting with external client representatives at the upper-mid level and senior levels of the organization and demonstrated business development skills.
  • 1 year supervisory experience or demonstrated progressive leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree such as MSN, MBA, MPH
  • Experience in behavioral health field strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of health plan sales or account management
  • Experience working in a health plan environment in a business role

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging trends in care management.
  • Ability to give executive level presentations.
  • Ability to work closely with and influence people at all levels, including C-suite executives, vice presidents, directors, managers and associates.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate and interpret data and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to lead/coordinate projects and act as a resource to other CareFirst departments.
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Estimate Amount: 50% Travel within Maryland, DC and Virginia
