Director, InterPlan/Blue Strategy (Hybrid MD/DC/VA)

Resp & Qualifications

Candidates MUST live in the MD, DC, VA area in order to travel into the offices several times/week.

PURPOSE: 
The Interplan & Blue Strategy Director will be responsible for the BlueCard Program, liaising with other Blue Plans and Consortium Health Plans across the country, and will provide strategic support on the future of Inter-Plan (Plan-to-Plan) engagement and  Programs across a matrixed organization of stakeholders within the company. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the BlueCard Program on a day-to-day basis and provides direction on the future of Inter-Plan Programs.  Has the authority to: activate decision-makers in all these areas, escalate issues for action and access subject matter expertise within their own Plans.
  • Lead individuals through a matrixed organization responsible for Inter-Plan policy, governance & integration, Inter-Plan data and sales enablement including Consortium Health Plans (CHP) pricing workgroups, BlueCard pricing & negotiations, and alignment of key strategic decisions across a number of critical functions.
  • Acts as the primary contact for BlueCard Program and related issues.  Liaise and build relationships with other Blue Plans and Consortium Health Plans across the country.
  • Accountable for enabling national accounts sales growth.  Supports strategic and data-driven decisions. Drive Blue Strategy for growth including ensuring that CareFirst is maximizing the value of the BlueCard Program for all constituents: internal Plan staff, other BCBS Plans, members, accounts and providers.
  • Accountable for communications and decisions related to the BlueCard Program and other Inter-Plan functions & programs.
  • Ensures that the Plan is maximizing the value of the BlueCard Program for all constituents: internal Plan staff, other BCBS Plans, members, accounts and providers.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience: 10 years Blue Plan or Health Plan Strategy experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sales Experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have a strong understanding of inter-Plan programs and a broad understanding of commercial group, senior market, Federal, Medicaid and other initiatives.
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

     

Salary Range: $120,800 - $224,235 (salaries are based on education, experience & internal equity)
