As a Wellness Consultant you will coordinate and facilitate activities and projects related to the workplace wellness portfolio that integrates into CareFirst’s products and care management strategies. In this role you will coordinate programs and tools for CareFirst employer groups focused on Workplace Wellness that are designed to improve the health and culture of their employee population.  You will work with vendors to on the implementation of wellness services as well as coordinate with Sales, Marketing, IT, Operations, internal medical staff and external operations that support developed programs and corporate strategies related to health and wellness. 

As part of the Wellness Consulting team you will work closely with and the Data and Informatics areas to analyze and determine the most effective strategies, tools and resources to enhance worksite wellness. You will also have an opportunity to study the results of established programs and research ROI data that can be utilized to effectively market products and improve results for existing customers. 

A key component of this role is working with the Sales Team in support of Workplace Wellness solutions to large employers, consultants and brokers.  You will have an opportunity to help accounts understand their current culture, health climate, facilities and policies and how they influence the health of their employee population as well as assist with disease prevention and healthy lifestyles-related activities and/or information during account implementation. 

Qualifications:

To be qualified and successful in this role you must have a Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience in workplace health promotion, behavior/health education, public health, healthcare administration, exercise/nutrition science or a related field. 

A minimum of two years of experience in the coordination and evaluation of health & productivity initiatives aimed toward improving the health status of external company employees while reducing medical and lost time costs for the employer; have a working knowledge of current and emerging healthcare trends and health behavior/education principles and communication methods;  An independent means of transportation as local travel is required and occasional travel outside of the CareFirst BCBS service area may be necessary.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, including proven experience assisting with presentations and proposals
  • Project management skills in health care or health insurance industry
  • Analytical skills to evaluate and interpret data and draw conclusions
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently and with others in a team
  • Ability to positively interface with internal staff and external clients
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various computer applications/software, particularly those related to the development of presentations and proposals.
