Audio/Visual Technology Analyst (Federal Employee Program)

Resp & Qualifications


  1. Primary responsibilities include operation of all Audio Visual (AV) support resources for FEPOC locations. Collaborate professionally with conference room employees, staff and other departments to service all AV technical support requests for events and serve as the on-site AV point person and coordinator for all assigned events pertaining to the conference center and training rooms. Provides technical support for audio-visual computer equipment for FEPOC staff. Serves as liaison between Vision Tech and FEPOC regarding equipment standards, networking and computer.
  2. Researches, evaluates, and selects from existing and emerging technologies the options best fitting FEPOC business needs while ensuring that best practices are adhered to in the adoption of new technologies.  Manages relationships with various vendors to explore new technology upgrades, enhancements, or new products for FEPOC needs.Research and evaluate the latest technology/equipment to exploit new technologies to benefit FEPOC business areas. 
  3. Provide professional, courteous technical support service to all customers with an emphasis on client services. Operational support and training for all sound and lighting control devices within FEPOC properties. Provide solutions for presentation needs occasionally under high-pressure circumstances and immediate response to requests for assistance to events in progress.Routine equipment maintenance, software and hardware upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting of equipment to diagnose and resolve problems. Maintains equipment as necessary and provides training for FEPOC staff on basic audio-visual equipment, skills and techniques for the Portals and Reston locations. 
  4. Engineer and implement new technology and tools to increase meeting and training productivity, performance, and efficiency. 
  5. Actively participates in FEPOC Real Estate and Facilities building renovation projects to support the overall FEPOC Real Estate Strategic Plan.
  6. Develops, updates, and maintains operations manuals, inventories and written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relative to equipment installation, maintenance, and operation.Maintains a current inventory of audio-visual equipment for FEPOC offices in Portals and Reston locations.  


Required:   Incumbent should have a BS degree in relevant field or equivalent experience and 2-3 years of related audio visual technology experience and project management experience.  This position requires strong interpersonal skills.  Incumbent must be comfortable with communicating or sharing information in a variety of forums and audiences.  The incumbent must also be proficient in the use and service of current CareFirst equipment technology in Conference Services including the CareFirst Conference Centers and various Corporate Training departments.  Candidate must also possess exemplary diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.      

Abilities/Skills: This position requires excellent interpersonal skills including but not limited to excellent communication, negotiation, written documentation, and presentation skills.  This position works directly with associates at every level within the CareFirst/FEPOC organization and must quickly learn to manage the needs of those in senior levels of the Company and to be more politically astute.  Incumbent must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.  In addition, the incumbent must be able to write and produce detailed, accurate documentation and business correspondence.     

The ability to effectively communicate with various levels of associates and management is essential. A professional image is a must. The incumbent must have strong organizational skills, an aptitude for details, and problem-solving skills.  The incumbent should be a self-starter, working independently and as a team.  The incumbent must also be able to prioritize, manage time effectively as well as function with no supervision under tight deadlines, and demonstrate initiative in problem solving.   

Advanced skills with PC applications including Microsoft Operating systems (Windows 7 and Windows 10), VOIP technology, Microsoft Office Suite which include Skype for Meeting and Internet applications are important.  The incumbent will demonstrate flexibility in a changing and demanding environment and be able to manage multiple priorities.  The incumbent must be able to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast paced environment.   

Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time.  Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.


Preferred candidate will have 5 or more years of experience with CareFirst networks, systems, and technology.  Candidate will also have extensive experience with conference services audio visual and telecommunications operating systems with internet based applications. Will have knowledge of the CareFirst/FEPOC building infrastructure.

The employee must frequently talk and hear.  Weights of up to 50-75 pounds are occasionally lifted or moved. Flexible work hours including early mornings, late evenings and weekends on occasions when the need is requested.
