Senior Audit Data Analyst, IT

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Under the direction of the Manager of Audit and Information Services and/or Manager of Audit & Advisory Services, the incumbent's accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provides automated information gathering support and performs data extraction and data analysis using analysis technologies (e.g., ACL, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, Oracle, or DB2) and reporting to support the execution of Audit & Advisory Services’ (AAS) internal audit activities (e.g., planning, fieldwork, quantification of exceptions, sampling).  Works closely with AAS management team and data owners (as needed) in the development and maintenance of a Continuous Auditing process to proactively monitor and report on risks, exposure, internal controls and key performance indicators across various areas of the Company.

In coordination with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)/Corporate Initiatives (CI) Audit Team, leads application and SDLC audits and pre and post implementation reviews of the systems and processes implemented to support strategic Company initiatives.  Provides technical advice relating to systems operations, systems development, process and control design, system security, project management, and business process improvement.  Monitors the progress and management of new systems and processes implemented to support Company strategic initiatives, and advises and consults on risk management and controls associated with strategic initiatives.  Leverage analytical capabilities to analyze and evaluate complex integrated systems, applications, and processes, and identify opportunities to improve process and control design. 

Proactively analyze and review emerging technology, changes in the Insurance/Healthcare industry and the business functions of clients, to evaluate advanced applications relative to Corporate Audit & Assurance strategies, goals and objectives.  Provides input to Audit and Data Analytics Strategy and ensure the strategy is inclusive of appropriate data, technologies, capabilities, and related methodologies. 


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Management Sciences, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting or a related field or equivalent professional work experience. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible auditing and/or systems analyst/programmer, process improvement, consulting /business advisory services experience. 
  • Proficient in 4th generation reporting languages and tools (e.g., MicroStrategy, Easytrieve, SAS), control language (JCL), System Development Life cycle (SDLC), and logical data processing operational activities. 
  • Proficiency in communication interface language such as TSO/SPF, Microsoft Access (database design) and ACL.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007. 
  • Understanding of database concepts, including building relationships between tables, grouping data, and producing cohesive analyses. 
  • Experience with data acquisition, cleansing, manipulation, normalization, and analysis technologies inclusive of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, Oracle, or DB2. 
  • Experience with developing complex ad hoc queries to minimize manual processes. 
  • Excellent analytical skills and a general understanding of file construction and utilities. 
  • Experience and knowledge in business process improvement, risk assessment and mitigation, internal controls assessment and SDLC methodologies. 
  • Project management skills in relation to data management projects, including developing project plans, budgets, and deliverables schedules. 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and business writing skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet established deadlines and satisfy internal and external customer demands. 
  • Knowledge of IT audit methodology, risk assessment, and IT General and application controls. 


Preferences:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Accounting preferred. 
  • Experience with transforming and reporting data using data visualization tools preferred. 
  • CPA, CIA, CISA or CISSP certification preferred. 
  • Healthcare insurance industry experience desired.
