Senior Software Analyst, Federal Employee Program (Quality Assurance & Auditing)

Resp & Qualifications

Under the general direction of the Senior Software Quality Assurance and Auditing Analyst and the Director, the incumbent’s accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Conduct assessments of programs/projects in the organization to ensure compliancy to published standards, processes, and/or templates.  Participate in CMMI SCAMPI appraisal.  Audit processes for compliancy and uniformity to ensure deliverables to the customer are consistent.  Work with peers to ensure Quality SLR’s are adhered.  Identify process, procedural, system and training issues based upon audit findings and initiate resolution to these problems through recommending alternate procedures/processes or recommendation of a working group.  Lead in the development of training materials.  Communicate with internal audit peers and management regarding status, audit issues and deadlines. Collect objective evidence of quality and analyze quality-related data and/or trends.  Monitor and track corrective and quality action items and/or quality issues through resolution.

2. Follow departmental policies and procedures with limited instructions in carrying out daily tasks. Direct in maintaining QMS departmental materials to support activities.  Conduct reviews, walkthroughs, assessments, and inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of current processes/procedures, techniques, systems and associates for small to medium complexity projects. Execute workgroups.
3. Conduct internal consistency checks ensuring uniform and fair auditing practices throughout the department, across all lines of business.  Preparation of QA reports. Create and prepare senior level presentations.  Process change requests reporting and tracking.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline plus a minimum of five to eight years of experience 
  • Experience in applying industry standard methodologies
  • Experience with auditing programs/projects of small to medium complexity, reporting and tracking issues to resolution
  • Excellent clear, effective  written and oral communications are required
  • Experience with the execution, monitoring, and administration of Quality/Process Improvement best practices
  • Microsoft Office suite (specifically MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Visio)
  • Experience in full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Demonstrated the following:

  • 5 - 8 + years hands-on experience in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from initiation to project closure
  • 5 - 8+ years’ experience with focus on process improvements, assessments,  audits and quality controls
  • Functional Knowledge in applicable quality standards and requirements such as CMMI, PMBOK, BABOK, ISO and ITIL
  • Functional knowledge of Agile, Spiral and Waterfall methodologies
  • Proven experience with the execution and administration of Quality/Process Improvement best practices
  • Experience working with Program/Project Quality Assurance/Process Improvement Plans
  • Experience working with Quality Gates or Quality Checkpoints as part of the SDLC
  • Ability to gather information and resolve issues independently
  • Ability to identify, manage and track progress of small to medium complexity projects to support organizational long range business objectives
  • Experience with quality assurance and process improvement, and methodologies and practices in an IT project development, custom software solutions and maintenance environment
  • Ability to multi-task in a changing environment
  • Works effectively with peers and supervisor(s).
  • Achieve quality and schedule requirements
  • Analytical, detail oriented
  • Ability to quickly understand assignments


  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Experience with Waterfall methodology
  • Experience with Spiral methodology
  • GAAS (Generally Accepted Auditing Standards) experience or demonstrated knowledge
  • Experience conducting audits in an IT environment
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Analytical, detail oriented, highly energetic, go getter and self-starter
  • Interpersonal flexibility and team/partnership mentality
  • Facilitation and presentation skills
