Resp & Qualifications

We are seeking an intern for our Client Advisory Services team to support the documentation, training and support efforts around CareFirst’s account reporting capabilities and tools. Under the direction of the Program Manager, the intern’s tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the writing, editing, formatting, and publication of end-user documentation related to CareFirst’s account reporting tools.
  • Working with Health Informatics to research and obtain technical specifications related to account reporting.
  • Assisting in the development to presentation materials to be used for internal and external customers.
  • Acting as a resource during internal and external training sessions, with the potential to serve as a co-lead during internal training sessions.
  • Participating in User Acceptance Testing related to monthly reporting enhancements.
  • Providing general support to internal sales associates for questions and issues related to account reporting.

Qualifications

  • Must be a student enrolled in an accredited college or university at either the junior or senior level (undergraduate) or graduate level.
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program related to Business, Communications, Information Systems or Technology, Health Information Management or Health Care Administration
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • The ideal candidate will also have:
    • Demonstrated skills with various computer applications/software, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
    • The ability to learn new applications and reporting tools easily.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively interface with and establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and external clients.
    • Excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including assisting with presentations and proposals.
    • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities
    • An independent means of transportation. This position will occasionally require travel within the Maryland/DC area.
    • Some prior customer service, data analytics, or health insurance experience.

Hire Range Disclaimer

The hire range posted is an annual rate. All intern positions will be paid hourly.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position.  Occasional walking or standing is required.  The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects.  The associate must frequently talk and hear.  Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
