PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
 

  • Establishes and maintains relationships at multiple levels with clients, consultants, brokers and vendors through the use of consultative skills and analysis of account needs/service requirements.
  • Ensures that each assigned account renews annually and aggressively pursues growth within groups by maintaining high level of customer satisfaction and providing support to account decision makers, brokers, and healthcare consultants.
  • Aggressively obtains new business through support of New Business Department.
  • Assists brokers with quotes, stop loss information, and benefit recommendations to assure a 90%+ level of account renewals.
  • Adds value to accounts and brokers relationships by maintaining an awareness of the business challenges and culture of each account.
  • Maintains an awareness and understanding of account satisfaction with NCAS and CFA at all times.
  • Conducts quarterly executive review sessions with accounts to report status on administrative performance and plan costs.
  • Communicates daily with Account Decision Makers, Human Resource staff and brokers on account issues/projects.
  • Maintains resolution plans to track issues and report closure to accounts.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the stop loss markets as they relate to a specific customer and monitors and maintains a steady pulse on plan performance on a monthly basis.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of LumenX system, preferred vendor capabilities, and has a full understanding of all features, functions, and differentiations of NCAS and CFA to promote sales, retention, and problem resolution.
  • Provides consultative selling for new and renewal business and serves as an asset to the organization by bringing referrals to New Business Department.
  • Organizes and conducts benefit fairs, enrollment meetings and conducts cross-selling to existing groups.
  • Advocates internally on behalf of accounts to ensure account satisfaction and continuously improve customer experience in working with NCAS and CFA by proactively planning and addressing account needs.
  • Identify and report operational issues and where possible, the root casus of these issues for follow up and correction within the operational units.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the PBM industry, maintaining an awareness of new products and strategies in the marketplace, understanding and explaining analytical cost of care elements such as PBM, advanced care management, benefit designs, and cost metrics and reinsurance.
  • Communicates account overall relationship status internally on a monthly basis to raise awareness of successes and improvement areas to associates in the Account Discussion Forum.
  • Manages staff of two employees including one Account Service Representative and one Account Liasion.  This includes the hiring, terminating, training/developing, evaluation and direct supervision of these employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which include but are not limited to, developing budgets; projecting enrollment figures; serving on internal and external committees to represent the sales division and/or the corporation; and contributing to corporate and account communications.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Directly supervises two employees including one Account Service Representative and one Account Liasion.  This includes the hiring, terminating, training/developing, evaluation and direct supervision of these employees

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of from five to eight years of sales experience with an emphasis on strategic and consultative selling is required.  The applicant must have extensive knowledge of group health/life insurance financial/funding mechanisms; healthcare delivery systems, including pricing methodologies and cost reimbursement mechanisms and health insurance products and networks.  The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of administration for self-insured employer groups and the TPA competition.  The ability to effectively manage professional sales personnel through leadership and the promotion of teamwork is required.

A current health and life license for the appropriate jurisdiction(s) is required.

Abilities/Skills:

The qualified applicant must possess proven sales skills, effective interpersonal/ relationship skills, and management skills.  The incumbent must possess the ability to analyze competitive sales information and develop effective sales strategies to retain existing business and acquire new business.  The incumbent must have the proven ability to demonstrate good instincts and make solid business judgments.  Additional requirements include negotiation skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent group presentation skills and personal computer skills.  The ability to direct and develop subordinates is necessary.

Preferred: 

Experience in a similar sales position with a competitor or another Blue Cross Blue Shield plan is preferred.  A degree in business, marketing and/or finance is also preferred.
