PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Under the general direction of the Actuarial Systems Manager, the incumbent’s accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide development support for the implementation of complex end-to-end data solutions and applications by coding to high-level specifications:
Perform supervised financial, actuarial and healthcare reporting and analytics according to specifications:
Support monthly production processes and improvements to the department’s efficiency:
This position is also subject to being "on call" for emergency situations requiring immediate resolution. Travel between all CareFirst locations may be required.
Required: A college degree/certificate in Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science or total equivalent work experience plus two to four years of relevant experience which includes at least 1 year in each of the following technologies:
Abilities/Skills: Additionally, this position requires demonstrated proficiency and practical experience with Excel, Access, VBA, Visual Studio, SQL Server, and SSIS (SQL Server Integrated Services). This position requires very strong conceptual and quantitative skills and the ability to work independently and in small teams. Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours when necessary. Good oral and written communication is necessary as are strong interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues and customers. Strong analytical and organizational skills are required.
Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time. Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
Preferred: Knowledge of other software packages such as version control tools, project management tools, and SQL development tools are preferred.
