Broker Executive (Small Market)

Resp & Qualifications

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Meet retention goals as assigned for medical products to include PPO, BlueChoice HMO and HealthyBlue, dental, vision; incorporate dental vision and USAble ancillary products by monitoring in group enrollment losses and meeting with Brokers monthly to review and manage renewals, providing viable alternatives where necessary.
2. Develop strong Broker relationships through increased visits, “flash” communications, and personal interactions.
3. Provide documented formal training of assigned Brokers/FSPs/GPs throughout the year including the use of virtual training technology where appropriate.  Must be able to create and effectively conduct training presentations on all medical and ancillary products.  Training should include topics including CareFirst’s Total Cost Care Initiative, PCMH, wellness, applicable policies and procedures and related updates to Health Care Reform at the State and Federal level
4. Management and coaching of assigned Brokers/FSPs/GPs to ensure paperwork and enrollment process is followed correctly.  Take appropriate action where necessary to ensure that distribution partners are following CareFirst guidelines. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:  Provides feedback to Director relative to activity of Sales support staff.  May informally manage sales support team and influence behavior to generate necessary support results. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required:  Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years sales experience or equivalent; license to sell health and life insurance in Maryland, DC and Virginia; Knowledge of Health Insurance Industry and Distribution Channels valid driver’s license

Abilities/Skills:  Communication skills that can be used at all levels of CareFirst from Vice President to staff member and externally; must be able to sell through an intermediary; to analytically make decisions relative to requirements and policy in the 1-50 market; organizational and time management skills. 

Preferred:  1-3 years sales experience with a health insurer; a thorough understanding of the CareFirst distribution system, compensation arrangements, pricing methodologies, product portfolio, eligibility requirements and competitor products in the 2-50 market.
