Senior Full-Stack Java Developer

Resp & Qualifications

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Development and/or modification of procedures, programs or hardware to solve business systems problems, considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating costs and business needs.  Has technical knowledge of all components of one or more operating systems or subsystems.  Has technical skill and experience necessary to develop custom solutions.  Works with the technical team and management to propose system strategies to support company needs.

 

  • Member of a mixed and matrixed team of software engineers in the design, development, and implementation of multiple applications. Performs and sometimes leads the detail technical design, coding, code review and testing of new applications and enhancements of existing applications. Provides technical assistance to Production Support teams, Applications Delivery teams, Implementation teams, Operations teams, Business Clients and the Help Desk in order to resolve Test and Production problems.
     
  • Estimates the technical costs of projects for management, confers with business clients and others within the organization to identify requirements (e.g., data, information needs, processing, specific output, functional and development of test data), and determines their desired outcomes in order to formulate the design of the system and/or offer alternative solutions.
     
  • Provide estimates of work, assist with resource/time allocations, properly follow project life cycle, develop and document technical designs, support testing cycles and support software implementations.  Provides management with regular updates regarding all technical aspects of assigned projects.  Assists manager in all development activities and supports other administrative and team building tasks when necessary.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

No direct reports, but may provide technical guidance to less experienced staff.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Awareness of new technologies and how they could be leveraged to benefit the department, new business strategies and corporate initiatives. Experience in client server, OO and/or netcentric development. Has technical knowledge of all components of one or more operating systems or subsystems. Familiarity with network protocols, particularly TCP/IP.

 

Required: This position requires a BA/BS in computer science or related IT field OR equivalent experience. Must also have a minimum of 5+ years of industry experience developing in object-oriented programming languages, performance tuning, database design and familiarity with application integration fundamentals.

 

Abilities/Skills: Knowledge of system analysis and design methodologies and tools, and experience with large and complex systems.  Experience with multi-system/platform program integration.  Experience in many and demonstrated high-level skills in at least one of the following:  logical and physical applications design; technical documentation; full-cycle system development; networking; security; web and/or web application server administration; RDBMS, Web-enabling applications; Java technologies (EJB, JSP, servlet).  Should be a self-starter, be able to work independently and be a quick learner. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are also required.  Specific requirements include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Minimum of 5+ years in extensive hands on experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Angular, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, JMX, JMS, Log4J, AJAX, JSF.
  • Wide breadth of knowledge across many Java Open-Source technologies including Ant, Struts, Spring Boot, XML parser technology, SOA based infrastructure, jUnit and HTTPUnit
  • Strong technical leadership skills
  • Knowledge of software development best practices (RUP, XP, Agile)
  • Excellent experience with object-oriented analysis and design patterns/techniques with emphasis on Java/J2EE technology
  • Previous experience with Continuous Integration and instrumenting automated builds/deployments through tooling (Jenkins).
  • Wide breath knowledge of J2EE applications servers (WebSphere, Tomcat, JBoss, etc…)
  • Previous experience with Workflow and Rules Engines
  • Excellent application performance tuning and trouble shooting skills
  • Experience with RDBMS (DB2, Oracle or MS SQL)
  • Experience with object-oriented analysis and design
  • Development with Use Cases
  • Familiar with UML
  • Experience with design patterns
  • Experience with RDMS
  • A self-starter and quick learner

 

Preferred:  BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent, Experience with some or all of the following:  Proven demonstrable hands on experience designing and managing applications using WebSphere 8 or 9, JBoss, Angular 4 or 5, Spring Boot, WebSphere Portal Server 8, Tomcat, Mobile Application Development, Cloud Technologies, Scalable enterprise applications architecture, design and development, Agile and Iterative SDLC, Relational and NoSQL databases, Continuous Integration, Automated Testing, Application Performance tuning.

 

  • Hands on experience with object-oriented analysis and design patterns/techniques with emphasis on Java/J2EE technology
  • 5+ years of proven strong hands on experience with Java, J2EE, EJB, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, JMX, JMS, Log4J, AJAX, JSF
  • Wide breadth of knowledge across many Java Open-Source technologies including Ant, Struts, Spring/Spring Boot, XML parser technology, SOA based infrastructure, jUnit and  HTTPUnit
  • Wide breath knowledge of J2EE applications servers (WebSphere, Tomcat, JBoss, etc…)
  • Knowledge of application performance tuning and trouble shooting skills
  • Hands on experience with RDBMS (DB2, Oracle or MS SQL)
  • Previous experience with Continuous Integration and instrumenting automated builds/deployments through tooling (Jenkins, Chef, Ansible, etc…)
