Senior Broker Data Analyst

Resp & Qualifications

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Under the direction of the Manager, Broker Data and Projects, the Senior Broker Data Analyst’s accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Broker Reporting and Analysis
Analyze broker data to identify patterns of persistency, new business, scope of business, business movement, and competitive data to better understand how brokers do business and to identify areas of opportunity.  Lead the creation and implementation of new standard reporting and analysis of sales and compensation performance for agencies, brokers, and distribution channel partners.  This will include the development of new broker benchmark reporting on account retention, net growth rate, product penetration, and average compensation.  Synthesize findings and prepare presentations for executive management and Board of Directors.  Leverage the current capability of the Broker Data Mart and work closely with Finance, Sales, and Operations to identify future data and reporting enhancements.  Create dashboards of Agency performance and compare to benchmarks, engaging with brokers to analyze and explain their YTD progress for the Net Growth Bonus and other incentives.  Assist in the formulation of strategies to retain and grow brokered and consultant business with CareFirst.

Broker Corporate Initiatives
Identify opportunities for broker data enhancement and lead all phases of implementation with the Broker Data Mart project team.  Collaborate with Broker Accounting, Sales, Marketing, and TOS team to develop and test new reporting elements in support of CareFirst’s external partner strategy and overall Net Growth goals.  Provide input to Broker Data Mart technical team, defining requirements, reviewing test case scenarios, performing related analyses, and leading due diligence testing against current state processes for the area. 

Broker Innovation and Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance Broker Administration’s role in supporting Sales / SBUs and lead their implementation.  This will involve developing new models and methods for pulling and summarizing information that is actionable for Sales with brokers and consultants.  Keep abreast of broker and Sales / SBU issues and proactively work to identify and implement ways to address them.  Work collaboratively with Broker Accounting to finetune broker compensation and incentives, including the Net Growth Bonus.  Evaluate and improve internal processes to better serve the needs of CareFirst’s external partners.  Take a leadership role in implementing solutions for the area.

Ad Hoc Analyses and Special Projects
Extract and analyze data to create summary presentations for SBU leadership, Sales, Marketing, executive management, and Board of Directors.  Perform data analysis and interpretation to support strategic account meetings with agencies, consultants, and distribution channel partners.  Collaborate closely with Market Consultants, Account Managers, and other leadership to build custom analyses tailored to the needs of internal and external customers.  Serve as subject matter expert on broker data and educate customers on accurate usage and interpretation.  Troubleshoot complex problems and lead them through to resolution, consulting the necessary areas of the company, pulling the supporting data, and communicating recommendations to management. 

Broker Contract Distribution
Oversee rollout, reporting, and broker support for future releases of Agent and Partner Agreements.  Conduct data extraction from broker system of record and support Broker Contracting and Compliance (BCC) and Broker Accounting with agency reconciliation.  Serve as DocuSign subject matter expert and manage all aspects of document tagging, ease of user experience, and workflow optimization.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required: 
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in health-care related field, economics, statistics, mathematics, or business-related discipline
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of demonstrated analytical experience
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to convey complex ideas in an easily understood manner to guide audience through written or verbal communication
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize and create a cohesive picture from a wide variety of information types and sources as well as to assess strategic implications
  • Ability to build cooperative, productive relationships with internal and external clients
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to take a leadership role with both peers and those more senior
  • High attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, persistency, and resourcefulness in problem-solving
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong PC skills with experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time.  Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence.   Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
