Web Developer

Resp & Qualifications

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Under the general direction of an IT Supervisor or Manager the incumbent's accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Assist with the design, development, testing, and documentation of Web sites/pages.  Production support and maintenance of existing applications.
2. Assist with the development of client business requirements and preparation of specifications, attend meetings and reply to users with basic information
3. HTML programming and Web page development
4. Java development utilizing Webservices, Hibernate and Spring in a web portal platform


Travel between all CareFirst locations may be required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Required:  College Degree or Technical Certification with 1-3 years of experience in Web design, Java development for web-based applications, and Web publishing OR equivalent experience.  Ability to respond quickly to production environment demands and to work well within a team environment

A BA/BS in computer science would be a plus.

Candidates must have at 1 - 3 years of experience with the following programming tools or languages, or have an equivalent aptitude in a similar tool or language:

Specific Tasks:

Web Development

  • Perform design, coding and testing on complicated revisions to Web applications, and create efficient and maintainable new applications

Content Management

  • Creator - create, edit and import content
  • Editor - tune the content message and the style of delivery, including translation and localization
  • Publisher - release the content for use, i.e., publishing the content to a repository to support access to the content
  • Administrator -
    • Manage access permissions to folders and files, usually accomplished by assigning access rights to user groups or roles
    • Manage versions of content as it evolves and restore older versions of edited products due to a process failure or an undesirable series of edits
    • Assign roles and responsibilities to different instances of content categories or types

Application Administration

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of RoboHelp
  • Assist with SharePoint site set up and maintenance
