Lead Software Engineer (Federal Employee Program)

Resp & Qualifications

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Under the direction of the Manager of Production Support the incumbent’s accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:      

Production Operations and lower region support as identified

• Monitors the system through the monitoring dashboard and system generated email  Knowledge of system analysis and design methodologies and tools, and experience with large and complex systems.  Experience with multi-system/platform program integration.  Experience in many and demonstrated high-level skills in at least one of the following:  logical and physical applications design; technical documentation. Should be a self-starter, be able to work independently and be a quick learner. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are also required.  Specific requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with Pega Software development.
  • Pega CSA Certification (Certified System Architect) or higher (CSSA or LSA) is a MUST
  • 5+ years experience working with Pegasystems technologies
  • 5+ years experience designing, building and implementing Business Process Management solutions on one or more technology platforms
  • Process one of the following certifications: CSA, CSSA OR LSA (Certified System Architect; Pega 7 experience)
  • Previous consulting or client services delivery experience
  • Experience with software architecture and SOA services implementation
  • Experience in process excellence/modelling, workflow, or flow charting
  • Proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Wide breath knowledge of J2EE applications servers (WebSphere, Tomcat, JBoss, etc…)
  • Desire to work in an information systems environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.

• Support Plans with initiatives that involve the FEPOC, such as disaster recovery testing

• Support Plans in the implementation and testing support for product adoption

• Update Plan Profiles

• Perform the development or setup tasks needed for product adoption (Pega, Data Power, GDGs, JCL, Java, Control-M, Folder and file structures for sFTP, …)

• Manage product adoption incidents from creation to closure

• Administer and when required, update the technical application request form for product adoption

• Manage adoption projects

• Administers FEPDirect user access


Required:  Position requires a BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience with 8+ years of relevant professional software development or operational support experience. 

Preferred Qualification:

Depending on the platform the incumbent will support:

BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent, Experience with some or all of the following:  Proven demonstrable hands on experience designing and managing applications using WebSphere 8 or 9, Angular 4 or 5, Spring Boot,  Tomcat, Mobile Application Development, Cloud Technologies, Scalable enterprise applications architecture, design and development, Agile and Iterative SDLC, Relational and NoSQL databases, Continuous Integration, Automated Testing, Application Performance tuning.

  • Hands on experience with object-oriented analysis and design patterns/techniques with emphasis on Java/J2EE technology
  • 8+ years of proven strong hands on experience with Java, J2EE, EJB, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, JMX, JMS, Log4J, AJAX, JSF.
  • Wide breadth of knowledge across many Java Open-Source technologies including Ant, Struts, Spring/Spring Boot, XML parser technology, SOA based infrastructure, jUnit and  HTTPUnit
  • Wide breath knowledge of J2EE applications servers (WebSphere, Tomcat, JBoss, etc…)
  • Knowledge of application performance tuning and trouble shooting skills
  • Hands on experience with RDBMS (DB2, Oracle or MS SQL)
  • Application Log Monitoring and automation of alerts 
  • Experience with shell scripts will be an additional plus



Specific requirements include, but not limited to:

  • Train junior members in the organization on products and services
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement, recommending resolution
  • Experienced with two platforms
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Assess alert status and know when to escalate
  • Understand System Life Cycle methodologies
  • Flexibility

  • Knowledgeable of at least technology platform
