New Business Consultant (Mid Market)

This position is responsible for representing CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield in prospecting, evaluating, planning and negotiating with clients and brokers using consultative selling skills in order to aggressively grow New Business in the 51 plus group market segment (DC, VA, MSGR and MD Parity).  New sales for this book of business will be primarily generated through the use of Brokers/Direct Sales/Public and Private Exchanges.

Aggressively grow new business for medical products in the 51 plus sized group market segment.  Products to include PPO, BlueChoice HMO and HealthyBlue, dental, vision, life products and USABle ancillary products.  Ensure appropriate update of Sales strategy/sales activities documentation on a monthly basis.

Develop strong Broker relationships utilizing strategic and consultative selling skills both in person and through electronic communication.  

Provide documented formal training of assigned Brokers/FSPs/GPs throughout the year including the use of virtual training technology where appropriate.  Must be able to create and effectively conduct training presentations on all medical and ancillary products.  Training should include topics including CareFirst’s Total Cost Care Initiative, PCMH, wellness, applicable policies and procedures and related updates to Health Care Reform at the State and Federal level.  

Management and coaching of assigned Brokers/FSPs/GPs to ensure paperwork and enrollment process is followed correctly. Take appropriate action where necessary to ensure that distribution partners are following CareFirst guidelines.

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position.  Occasional walking or standing is required.  The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects.  The associate must frequently talk and hear.  Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
