Solutions Architect II

Resp & Qualifications

The incumbent is responsible for providing solution architecture supports, defining conceptual, logical and physical solution and technical architectures for medium to complex initiatives with claim domain.

The position requires good knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns, integration and solution architecture between Mainframe, COTS, and mid-range systems, and an ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. It requires knowledge in a broad spectrum of architecture domains, including business, data, infrastructure and security architecture.   

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:  Under the direction of Senior Director, and/or Chief Architect, the incumbent’s accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leads the effort to produce the enterprise level solution architecture designs for medium to complex integration initiatives. Responsible for defining the system, technical, and application architectures that provides the best solution for business needs.
  • Supports complex projects/issues that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments, work with delivery team address architecture, integration and technical issues, and in some instances lead the technical implementation of the solution architecture.
  • Work with lead architects to support definition of the enterprise level architecture strategy, and the implementation of future state architecture roadmap. 
  • Maintain a high competency in healthcare industry and technology trends. Researches, evaluates and selects from existing and emerging technologies the options best fitting business and IT strategic needs. Lead and contribute to technology evaluations and selections. Conduct proofs of concept for emerging technologies and business concepts 


Required:  This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related IT field or equivalent work experience.   More than 8 + years of experience in enterprise projects and 3-5 years of relevant enterprise solution architecture experience, with 2-3 years of experience in leading architecture efforts for legacy system modernization. Experience in participating in multi-discipline, high-performance work teams/groups and demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.  Solid experience in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems.  Extensive experience in developing technical architectures.  Good experience in translating business strategies, across several business units, into effective solutions. Good knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle.  Goode understanding of integration patterns and their application at all levels (conceptual, logical and physical).  Excellent working experience of application architecture, Security, data modeling, object modeling, and system performance optimization and.  Proven strong technical leadership skills.

Abilities/Skills: The incumbent would have the ability to identify and resolve complex situations in a responsive manner, and take corrective action to eliminate re-occurrence.  Ability to understand the business architecture, processes and strategies.  Excellent analytical, planning, and communication skills.  Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate problem resolution. Ability to anticipate future IT direction to support Corporate Initiatives.  Excellent understanding of Enterprise Architectural process and practices.

Preferred:   Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.  Experience in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware and software platforms (in the health care industry).  Experience with intranet development and implementation is a plus.
