Resp & Qualifications


This position provides support to advance the goals and mission of Large Group Operations.  The function focuses on assisting the Application Development & Scripting team with automating and improving manual processes throughout the operation.

The incumbent will develop small scale applications and scripts using primarily Windows based technologies that will parse and format data files, create Excel spreadsheets and Excel macros, automate manual processes, and improve reporting capabilities. 

The incumbent will learn and support numerous operational processes, including; Claims, Enrollment, Automate Enrollment, Ancillary Support, Billing, Finance and Customer Service.  The incumbent will also develop a strong working knowledge of the various systems used by these operational teams and assist the System Support teams in their support of these teams and systems.

The incumbent will assist department Supervisors, Managers, and the Director in various and day-to-day operations, and assist in projects that drive innovation in the department.

Primary Accountabilities

Under the general supervision of the Technical Director of Enrollment, Billing and System Support, the intern’s accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Requirements definition and small-scale project management

  • Script and small application development

  • Process documentation

  • System and operational support

  • Maintenance of electronic files and databases

  • Attending associate and executive meetings, events, and activities.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Current college student pursuing a BS/BA degree or greater, preferably in information technology, health information management, or related fields
  • A minimum 60 college credits complete toward degree
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Candidates should be able to work up to 20 hours in the fall/spring and up to 40 hours in the summer

Abilities and Skills

  • Very strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Application development or scripting experience using C#, VB, VB Script, C, Java, or equivalent programming language.
  • Strong ability to quickly understand and comprehend the situation/inquiry, and accurately evaluate the appropriateness of the response.
  • Proven interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
