This senior level consulting position supports and leads the efforts that strengthen both the performance and health of the leaders and associates at CareFirst to advance organizational priorities and strategies. Provides expertise in adult learning, outcomes measurement, and change management to implement and drive effective/aligned enterprise-wide strategies and processes. Oversight extends through the entire project lifecycle from the initial Need Analysis through implementation and stabilization.
This position reports to the Director of Organizational Development and has responsibilities for providing consultation to leaders at all levels, including executives.
1. Organizational Change Management Support: Creates actionable deliverables: communication plans sponsor roadmap, coaching plans, training plans, resistance management plans, monitor change readiness / progress at key project milestones, business integration and adoption. Deliver expert facilitation and training on change management to ensure organizational performance, team effectiveness, structure/design, governance practices, culture and other HR processes support achievement of business goals. Builds organizational change capability at all levels of the firm to increase knowledge, awareness, and the practice of change management in day to day operations as well as enterprise wide strategic initiatives.
2. Business Problem Solving/Project Management: Develops solutions for specific organizational and business problems related to strategy and business plan execution, organization design, governance, team effectiveness, engagement models, work flow, etc. Conducts organizational assessments and uses data to provide consultation on organizational effectiveness interventions that will close gaps from current to desired future state. Aligns stakeholders to business objectives and plans to implement those solutions. Support the coordination and project management needed to successfully execute people development processes and initiatives. Provide support to drive project requirements and plans including managing timelines, communications, quality, risks, uncovering roadblocks, defining critical paths, identifying resource constraints, and any other issues that arise. Develop necessary presentations and documentation to support decisions and ideas. Assess succession bench strength/gaps, identify capability needs and source strategies. Collaborate with HR and business leaders to create a talent pipeline while ensuring a diverse workforce. Complete ad-hoc and special projects as necessary and based on business need and changes. Support industry outreach and research necessary to ensure competitive practices and planning for people development strategy.
3. Facilitation/Presentation-Manage and/or consult on the planning and facilitation of various team development sessions. Facilitate, teach, and make presentations to various groups eliciting appropriate audience involvement and utilizing adult learning principles. Supports SVP, HR and Sr. Director of Training and OD in the preparation of reports and proposals for new initiatives, Executive Management, and the Board of Directors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None, lead role to the Manager, Organizational Development.
SCOPE DATA: Manages corporate-wide, large-scale projects, liaison between internal Associates, IT and external vendors; supports both HR management and senior management as needed.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources Management, Industrial /Organizational Psychology, Business Statistics or a related field and 7-10 years of senior level project management experience in a HR environment, primarily working on OD initiatives or projects. Prior leadership experience required.
Preferred: Master’s degree. Certified Project Manager (PMP) with management experience. Five years direct experience in Organizational Development, Training and Human Resources environments, leading major corporate-wide initiatives. Certifications in Hogan Leadership Assessment, 360 assessments, Coaching, Change Management and other OD related disciplines preferred.
Abilities/Skills: Experience leading multiple initiatives, projects and cross functional teams utilizing project management software. Strong project management skills, communications skills, subject matter expert presence. Demonstrated experience consulting with management on a wide array of initiatives. Demonstrated experience navigating a large, complex organization with multiple business units. Demonstrated expertise in creating high level reports, presentations and recommendations for senior management. Prior demonstrated experience working multiple layers of management, including senior management. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access. Demonstrated ability to influence others without authority. Must have strong written and oral skills and a facilitation or consultant background. Must be willing to travel when needed.
