SharePoint Specialist

Resp & Qualifications

Supports the organization by being part of a team whose mission is to support and improve the efficiency of internally used systems and processes.  Your role is to focus on the architecture, development, administration of the internal SharePoint environment.

Under the general direction of the Manager, PMO Portfolio Tools and/or the Director, Claims, Audit and Corporate Systems Products Delivery, the incumbent's accountabilities include:

  • Create and maintain site collections, sites, site definitions, web parts, pages, workflows, content types, metadata, templates, and themes
  • Create, leverage and manage content types, site columns, lookups and templates for re-use in sites
  • Determine and create scalable structure for division, department, executive, director, manager, program, project, etc. sites
  • Manage search scopes
  • Configure and maintain landing page to encourage traffic and user adoption
  • Establish and administer alerts to monitor activity on critical information as required
  • Establish and enforce governance rules
  • Perform SharePoint administration which includes managing permissions, restricting and revoking access as required
  • Maintain the SharePoint environment to include constantly revisiting and reviewing content to ensure business relevance
  • Monitor site usage and follow up on dormancy on a regular basis
  • Monitor to ensure established workflows and tasks are working correctly
  • Communicate weekly with management a detailed status of activities, successes, and issues
  • Act as a liaison with customers to research, analyze and propose solutions to solve technical and/or operational problems
  • Provide extensive knowledge of SharePoint capabilities and uses to customers – be a SharePoint evangelist
  • Plan and implement monthly SharePoint Power User group meetings and convey information to the team
  • Perform ongoing research to determine SharePoint’s current and future capabilities
  • Train end-users on basic functionality. Direct users to training material and available resources
  • Act as Tier 1 support for end-users and site designers
  • Mentors new, less experienced, or junior staff members on the use and effective administration of SharePoint

This position is also subject to being "on call" for emergency situations requiring immediate resolution.  Travel between CareFirst locations may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Required:   

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in a technical discipline (i.e., Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Science, etc.,)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a SharePoint Administrator
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Delve, Flow, PowerApps, PowerBI
  • Practical knowledge of SharePoint APIs and CSOM
  • Experience working within an Agile and ITIL environment
  • Proven analytical skills with information systems

Preferred: 

  • Certification in SharePoint / O365

  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Must be a team player, use professional judgment, and support organizational and departmental goals

  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with a large, diverse user community in a support capacity and to gather, analyze, define, and implement requirements. 
  • Experience with application documentation, testing, and end user training

Abilities/Skills: 

Candidates should have experience working with teams in a heavily matrixed organization and show a propensity for dealing with the user community in a highly professional non-technical manner.  Flexibility is essential to this position (candidates should be willing to learn new technologies, to implement new processes, and be able to take direction).

This position will require analytical skills, as well as the ability to learn new technologies quickly based on prior experiences with similar tools and an understanding of infrastructure. The candidate must be able to able to work semi-independently, assist team members as necessary, prepare reports to track progress as required, conduct training, and prepare documentation and training materials as required. Superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical terminology in a clear and concise manner to clients and colleagues of all levels are critical success factors.
