Junior Graphic Designer

Resp & Qualifications

The Federal Employee Program® Operations Center (FEPOC) is seeking a graphic designer with strong skills in presentation design, brand identity, marketing and communications collateral, digital communications media, and data visualization.

This position will work collaboratively with the Strategic Communications team and various stakeholders to execute on a variety of projects including PowerPoint presentations, brand development, conference creative, digital newsletters, digital banners/display, reports, and information graphics that communicate the FEPOC story and engage customers through visual story-telling and compelling print and digital media.

The candidate should have the ability to communicate a brand, product or project through clean, impactful design. Must be able to translate content into a storyboard to ensure presentations convey the intent of the content and work collaboratively with writers and editors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:


Creative Strategy

  • Work closely with communications team members to understand business drivers and needs.
  • Understand and interpret creative briefs and/or client needs to establish a design direction that can be pitched to senior team members and ultimately to clients.
  • Take high-level creative direction and think strategically when developing visual solutions.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and good judgment.


Production and Design

  • Utilize skills in layout, typography, data visualization, illustration and branding to design and execute impactful communications and marketing products and designs in a variety of program applications.
  • Work with print vendors and be able to prepare and submit high-resolution files correctly. Assist with press checks as needed and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Work with digital vendors and teams, and deliver properly specified and prepared files in needed formats.
  • Build quality branded templates that are easy-to-use by clients and stakeholders.


Design Research, Planning and Administration

  • Gather and study information and materials needed to establish design direction.
  • Understand target audience to deliver the best visual solution for the audience needs.
  • Build deep knowledge of the FEPOC story and our technology solutions and services.
  • Provide guidance to help colleagues utilize templates.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices.



  • 4-5 years of experience as a visual or graphic designer.
  • Proven design skills in marketing/brand materials and information visualization; portfolio required.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft PowerPoint, and general skill in other Microsoft Office applications. Print and digital experience.
  • Capable of working in a fast, fluid environment with changing priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to take a project from ideation to completion.
  • Customer focus and collaborative work ethic.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Deadline-oriented.
  • Handles rejection with growth mind-set.
  • Experience collaborating with a UX/UI team preferred.
  • Experience with animation, photography and video a plus.
