Resp & Qualifications
This position reports to the Manager, Financial Systems and Segment Analysis and is responsible for producing and analyzing internal financial statements and management reports. The position will also perform routine and ad hoc financial analysis to explain financial results and budget variances.
The position also develops, administers and supports new financial statements and analysis as assigned, assists users in other areas of Finance by effectively applying technology to support operational, reporting, and analysis needs.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Provides a team leadership role and hands-on performance in the completion/closure of monthly internal financial statements. Develops new financial reports as needed using Oracle FSG or OBIEE.
Coordinates, reviews and analyzes financial data to explain variances and trends.
Responds to manager, director and executive inquiries, handles special requests for data and analysis.
Participates as an experienced resource in the design and implementation phases of new systems initiatives, providing functional analysis and design independent of direct supervision to ensure that new systems meet operational, control and information requirements.
Assists in documenting and maintaining records in support of internal and external audits/reviews.
Recommends, implements and documents changes to accounting workflow and processes when appropriate and ensures those changes are compliant with corporate goals and policies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related business field or equivalent technical training and 7+ years of demonstrated progressively responsible work experience in accounting
SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Position requires an excellent working knowledge of GAAP Accounting. Excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills (both written and verbal). Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Maintain highly sensitive information in a confidential manner. Solid PC background and extensive knowledge of ERP Systems
Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time. Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple demands from internal and external customers
Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level
Strong knowledge of CareFirst organization and financial systems and processes.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting rules.
CPA licensure and/or MBA.
Experience with Oracle EBS or similar ERP systems. Experience and knowledge of OBIEE or similar BI applications a plus.
Intermediate/advanced Excel skills.
