Third-Party Administrator Technology Intern

Resp & Qualifications

CareFirst Administrators (CFA) is the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) of CareFirst BCBS.  CFA operates as a separate business unit under the Commercial Large/Mid SBU.  The TPA Technology and Special Projects department develops and manages applications specific to CFA including an independent instance of, Ebix LuminX, and numerous internally developed applications. 



  1. Insert group enrollment and benefit data by inputting text based and numerical information from source documents into application within time limits.
  2. Interpret customer enrollment and benefit documentation and determine most current customer benefits from several source documents. 
  3. Research and obtain further information for incomplete documents.
  4. Report progress in shared spreadsheet in SharePoint.
  5. Attend project related meetings and conference calls.


Minimum Qualifications:

RequiredThis position requires an individual working towards a bachelor’s degree in an accredited college or university.  Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above.  We are looking for students seeking degrees in Business or Information Technology.

We are looking for students who can work up to 15-20 hours during the academic year.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively interface with and establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff.
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities
  • An independent means of transportation. Local travel may be necessary.
  • Demonstrated skills with various computer applications/software, particularly Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
