Mailroom Clerk

Resp & Qualifications

THIS POSITION IS IN-HOUSE MONDAY-FRIDAY IN FAIRFAX, VA.  THE SALARY IS APPROX. 30K ANNUALLY + BENEFITS.

PURPOSE:  The incumbent assumes a proactive approach to ensure smooth running of the mailroom by handling all incoming and outgoing mail, as well as handling checks, EOBs and correspondence for the TPA.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:  Under the Supervisor of Mail Services the incumbent’s accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Receive, open, sort, batch and scan incoming mail.
2. Scan and Log In all correspondence and checks.
3. To research and identify unidentified claims by using the claims system (Tera Term)
4.  Sort and distribute interoffice mail at each TPA site.
5.  Collect and mail outgoing mail, special handling of certified, UPS. Etc.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required:  Position requires at least 1 year of clerical and experience of mail handling and a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Abilities/Skills: Must be well organized, team player and demonstrated clerical skills including typing and data entry.

Must be able to effectively work  in a fast paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines,  and  workloads that can be variable  for long periods of time.  Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands  from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence.   Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Preferred:  Scanning equipment knowledge

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position.  Occasional walking or standing is required.  The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects.  The associate must frequently talk and hear.  Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
