Database Administrator Intern

Resp & Qualifications

The Data Resource Management team supports the Database Management System software and associated infrastructure for Production and Non-Production databases.

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

Under the general supervision of the Manager and a Principal Systems Engineer within the Data Resource Management Department, the incumbent’s accountabilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Execute Data Definition Language (DDL) for Oracle databases.

2. Execute Data Manipulation Language (DML) for Oracle databases.

3. Create Oracle Userids and grant appropriate privileges.

4. Reset Oracle Userid passwords.

5. Review Oracle database standards and verify compliance

6.  Assist in the day-to-day administration, and support of Oracle Databases.

  • Oracle database documentation

Minimum Qualifications:

RequiredThis position requires an individual working towards a bachelor’s or masters’ degree in an accredited college or university.  Must be a minimum of a Junior or a Senior and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.  We are looking for students seeking degrees in Information Systems, Technology, Computer Science, or related field. 

We are looking for students who can work up to 15 -20 hours during the academic year and 40 hours during the summer.

Required Abilities/Skills

  • Understanding of relational databases and the concept of database objects such as users, tables, indexes, keys, tablespaces
  • Understanding of Structured Query Language (SQL), Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) for Oracle databases
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively interface with and establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and external clients.
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including assisting with presentations and proposals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities
  • An independent means of transportation. Local travel may be necessary.
  • Demonstrated skills with various computer applications/software, such as Windows Outlook, Skype, Word, Excel.
