CareFirst runs a year-round internship program. The ideal candidate is someone who can commit to work throughout the year – part-time up to 15-20 hours in the Spring/Fall AND full-time 40 hours in the summer.
The intern position resides within the Specialty Business Unit at CareFirst. This team is responsible for CareFirst’s specialty business lines, including Dental, Vision, Stop Loss, and Pharmacy. The position will focus on the Pharmacy business line. We are looking for a student who is interested in working in a team environment but is also able to work independently on specific projects and initiatives that will allow for continuous learning and the ability to make an impact on the department and organization.
This position may include the following duties: Understand and become familiar with insurance products in-depth. Conduct process mapping sessions, document workflows and streamline standard operating procedures. Identify process improvement opportunities. Formulate excel spreadsheets and calculate comparisons for departmental analysis. Create PowerPoint presentations and support departmental projects and initiatives.
