Product Development Intern

Resp & Qualifications

CareFirst runs a year-round internship program.  The ideal candidate is someone who can commit to work throughout the year – part-time up to 15-20 hours in the Spring/Fall AND full-time 40 hours in the summer.

The intern will be an integral member of the Product Lifecycle Management team within the Marketing and Government Affairs division at CareFirst.  This team leads the Product Lifecycle Management process for all four phases of the product lifecycle including Product Strategy, Product Design, Product Implementation, and Product Management.  Be part of the Marketing team and work with professional leaders to develop innovative health care solutions that strategically meet the needs of our members and community.  This role is a great opportunity for a motivated individual to gain a first-hand understanding of how a product team works while learning the day-to-day concerns, processes, and goals of the largest health care insurer in the Mid-Atlantic region.

CareFirst is looking for someone who is a self-starter and can work within a team, but also work independently towards a common goal.   The following skills are important to the success in this role:

  • Analytical skills and ability to work with data/information to tell a story
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet
  • An interest in healthcare, innovation, and problem-solving skills are essential

Qualifications

  • Must be a student enrolled in an accredited college or university at either the undergraduate or graduate level
  • G.P.A. 3.25 or above
  • Target Educational Focus:  students studying Marketing, Healthcare Management and/or Business related
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong research skills-ability to search internet and complete environmental scans
  • Must be able to work independently to manage schedules and projects
  • Comfortable working in collaborative environments both online and in person
