Field Sales Agent (Medicare Advantage sales experience needed)

SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Manager, Distribution and Regional Offices and is responsible for the sale of Medicare products directly to Medicare beneficiaries by way of including, but not limited to face to face appointments with beneficiaries, marketing & sales events which would include delivering sales materials to provider offices, telephonic outreach, broker and agent referrals and lead opportunities. Candidate will have an assigned territory to travel within and work efficiently to support these various locations to achieve maximum sales outcomes.  Candidate should lead, collaborate and execute on all sales activities driving growth in Medicare products including Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement.  Candidate will become known as a trusted advisor who is visible and recognized as a Medicare resource in the community. 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Distribution and Regional Offices;
• Initiates sales opportunities with Medicare beneficiaries, individually or in groups, to sell individual Medicare health plan policies. Delivers sales presentations to qualified Medicare participants at their homes or chosen meeting location, sales events, etc. following approved CMS guidelines. Makes every effort to qualify prospects on site and close the sale in an effort to increase enrollment. Promote retention and minimize rapid disenrollment by providing accurate, consistent and timely service and follow up

• Meet or exceed sales quotas by maintaining a lead pipeline with prospects who have responded to direct marketing and campaign efforts, creating self-generated lead opportunities, and developing prospects by participating in CareFirst sponsored or community Medicare sales events.  Candidate must maintain knowledge of compliance regulatory procedures and Medicare Marketing Guidelines to utilize in all functions, processes, and communication.  All lead activity will be maintained and updated in CRM system.

• Upon the completion of the Medicare Advantage Annual Open Enrollment period, candidate will participate in efforts of retaining current CareFirst members who are aging into Medicare or retiring later.  Activities will include collaboration with Commercial Group Account Executives, employer groups and brokers to identify aging in populations and conduct appropriate strategies in retaining aging in membership. 


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or other related field, or equivalent experience. Must have excellent presentation, negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to interface with all levels of members and internal associates. Must have 3-5 years’ experience working in Sales with a proven track record. Experience working with the Medicare population and Medicare Advantage products preferred. Must possess extensive PC skills including expertise with the Microsoft suite of products.  Must have proven experience in generating leads and market value for the company. 

Must gain a thorough knowledge of corporate and department goals and policies, Company products and operations are required, as well as decision-making and problem-solving skills.  Excellent organizational skills, including ability to understand and set priorities; excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with internal and external clients; ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful and concise manner; ability to make decisions independently regarding products most appropriate to members; ability to share information and work effectively as part of a team; ability to function without supervision on routine tasks.


SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time.  Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle large volume of prospects during AEP.   Must be able to work remotely and travel to offsite meetings with prospects. 


The ability to work some evenings and weekends is required.
Position requires a valid Health and Life insurance license for all jurisdictions in which CareFirst, Inc. operates. Candidate must pass annual CMS Medicare Advantage testing through AHIP and complete certification.

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position.  Occasional walking or standing is required.  The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects.  The associate must frequently talk and hear.  Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
