HR Generalist

Under the direction of one or more senior HRCC’s or HR Manager, the incumbent will serve as an advisor to management and associates on all aspects of HR policy/program delivery as well as a primary link between the business area and Human Resources..

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Actively participates in business team discussions and decisions to advise management on a wide range of human resource and business issues in support of the organizations strategic plan. 
• Provides consulting in developing processes for organizational change and renewal.  Advises and influences management to ensure that the business team effectively communicates company and division vision, mission, values and goals. 
• Provides consultation and coaching to management on individual and organizational problems to improve quality, productivity, working relationships, and morale. 
• Works with client management to evaluate and maintain appropriate staffing complement on an ongoing basis which may require increased/decreased staffing levels and develop plans to appropriately respond to fluctuations.

• Effectively and proactively addresses associate relations issues to ensure they are resolved in equitable, legal manner in accordance with corporate policy and culture.
• Implements approved HR strategy, policy and practices, and makes recommendations for change as needed.
• Engages and counsels employees and acts as an advocate when needed in issues such as performance management, investigations, career development, grievence procedures, etc.

• Provides or facilitates manager coaching, information, training, and problem resolution to ensure effective management and administration of the organizations goals through supporting HR programs. 
• Actively engages the company’s policy regarding diversity and affirmative action plan as a normal course of business.

• Provides training and coaching to management to build and enhance relational and motivational skills and to minimize statutory and regulatory provisions.  Acts as liaison with Education, Training and Development and other HR departments to design, develop and deliver formalized training and education to perform duties.


Position requires a Bachelors degree in a Human Resources related field (Masters degree preferred) or equivalent work experience, as well as 4-7 years current related experience as a Human Resources Generalist.  Thorough knowledge of HR theory and practices affecting change management, performance management, employment law, employee relations, training delivery, coaching, compensation, benefits, EEO/affirmative action, and employment are required.  Knowledge of business consulting techniques, ability to analyze Human Resources business implications and effectively work with senior and middle management in a business partnership, and skill in developing and delivering written and oral presentations for a variety of audiences are also required.  Also required is proficiency to include spreadsheet (Excel preferred) and HR reported development and design.  Travel may be required.

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position.  Occasional walking or standing is required.  The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects.  The associate must frequently talk and hear.  Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
