Senior Financial Analyst/Accountant

Resp & Qualifications


This position is responsible for ACA accounting, Health care assessment filings and payments, Premium tax filings, payments and reporting, to include account reconciliations associated with these processes. The position assumes the senior role to assure timely and accurate processing of financial information in compliance with applicable corporate financial policies, and GAAP.


  1. ACA accounting including the monthly recording of journal entries, amortization of prepaids, completion of reconciliations, and trending/analysis with the goal of spotting unusual activity and ensuring quick resolution of any errors.
  2. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual premium tax filings, including processing of all payments, as well as reconciling balance sheet accounts to ensure accruals are accurate. This includes staying current on state regulations and filing requirements to ensure filings are accurate and payments are made timely.
  3. Prepare and research quarterly balance sheet fluctuations.
  4. Ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested.
  5. Strengthen departmental effectiveness through cross training, documentation of procedures, and assistance in responding to audit requests.


Required: BS in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent technical training and 5+ years of demonstrated progressive work experience in accounting and finance. In depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Abilities/Skills: This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), strong PC and financial systems skills, strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as a team member.

Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time. Must be able to meet established deadlines within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Preferred: At least 3 years’ experience with corporate financial accounting is strongly preferred. Good working knowledge of Oracle Financial, GL Wand, and Microsoft Excel is preferred. CPA and/or MBA are a plus, but not required.
