Organizational Development Consultant

PURPOSE:  This position is responsible for providing expert consulting and advising corporate Leadership, HR management and internal clients in evaluating and developing programs that result in increased levels of individual and organizational productivity.  Performs project design and analyses in management of assigned Organizational Development programs. Manages several large-scale projects for Organizational Development, i.e. All Associate Survey, Associate Development Program, Mentoring, Talent Review, Succession Planning, Management Development and Coaching, etc.  The Organizational Development (OD) Project Manager, leads the planning for, and manages the day-to-day tactical execution of large, highly complex projects within Organizational Development.  Oversight extends through the entire project lifecycle from the initial needs analysis through implementation and stabilization.
Establish and gain buy-in for project plans, organizes project related logistics and resources, communicates with stakeholders, fulfill others project management duties as required. This position reports to the Manager of Organizational Development and has responsibilities for providing consultation to leaders at all levels, including executives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

OD Project and Change Management-Support and drive enterprise-wide, large-scale organizational development initiatives, including: leadership/management development, employee engagement, process improvement, and others as they emerge.    Collaborate with the HR Training & Development team to manage and deliver learning solutions as necessary. Drive and/or support the design and implementation of ongoing management of management/leadership/career programs, both internally delivered and vendor managed.  Serves as first point of contact for OD vendors for ongoing support and project needs.  Research best practices for management, leadership and career development programs.  Research trends and innovations and remain current with developments, new techniques and technologies in the OD and change management fields.  Work with the HR Training & Development leadership to support, develop and maintain a multi-year talent development strategy for the organization and the departments within it.  Establish and maintain strategic business partnerships with Human Resources and business unit leaders across the organization.  Lead corporate-wide change management initiatives.  Responsible for managing several large-scale, Organizational Development projects.  This includes the planning, design and implementation of organizational and learning development programs and activities such as Talent Review, Succession Planning, Performance Management, leadership/executive development, coaching and change management, All-Associate Survey, Mentoring, Associate Development Program, etc.  Performs consultation, coaching, data analyses and reporting of these projects.  Provides counsel in training and organizational development to ensure that the leadership, change and organizational developmental needs are identified and appropriate programs, metrics and interventions are delivered. Support operational activities in OD and HRD as needed.

OD Consultation-Partners with HRCCs, HR management and training functions across the company to evaluate the costs and benefits of various HR programs.  Researches and develops business cases, cost analysis, project scope & plans for major HR initiatives.  Runs reports and analyzes data in support of existing and proposed programs.  Provides the expertise to allow management to calculate the bottom-line impact of these programs.  Serve as an internal consultant and resource on organizational development issues, including: team development, conflict resolution, change management, management development and other general organizational issues.  Provide consultation to leaders, managers and departments, diagnose departmental issues and make recommendations for interventions based on best practices in the OD field.  Where strategically appropriate, design and deliver customized solutions, where not strategically appropriate, manage delivery by outsourced resources. 

Facilitation/Presentation-Manage and/or consult on the planning and facilitation of various team development sessions.  Facilitate, teach, and make presentations to various groups eliciting appropriate audience involvement and utilizing adult learning principles.  This role is also a back-up to Training and can facilitate any of the HRD and Diversity offerings.  Supports SVP, HR and Sr. Director of Training and OD in the preparation of reports and proposals for new initiatives, Executive Management, and the Board of Directors. 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required: 
  Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources Management, Industrial /Organizational Psychology, Business Statistics or a related field and 5-7 years of senior level project management experience in a HR environment, primarily working on OD initiatives or projects. 

Preferred:   Master’s degree.  Certified Project Manager (PMP) with management experience.  Five years direct experience in Organizational Development, Training and Human Resources environments, leading major corporate-wide initiatives.  Certifications in Hogan Leadership Assessment, 360 assessments, Coaching, Change Management and other OD related disciplines preferred.

Abilities/Skills:  Experience leading multiple initiatives, projects and cross functional teams utilizing project management software. Strong project management skills, communications skills, subject matter expert presence. Demonstrated experience consulting with management on a wide array of initiatives.   Demonstrated experience navigating a large, complex organization with multiple business units. Demonstrated expertise in creating high level reports, presentations and recommendations for senior management.  Prior demonstrated experience working multiple layers of management, including senior management.  Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access. Demonstrated ability to influence others without authority.  Must have strong written and oral skills and a facilitation or consultant background.  Must be willing to travel when needed.
