Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Technical Maintenance Intern

Resp & Qualifications

This is a Year-Round Internship. We are looking for students who can commit to work up to 15-20 hours per week during the academic year in the Fall/Spring and 40 hours per week during the summer.

 

PURPOSE:

The IVR Technical Maintenance Intern role exists as a hire strategy to bring in incumbents enrolled in an accredited college or university who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a data science or related field to learn the business and technical side of IVR Technology Maintenance from the ground up. InterActive Voice Response Technology enables a CareFirst Member or a Provider of Medical, Dental or Vision services to receive answers to routine questions through the use of telephonic self service and enables intelligent phone call routing and call handing. This role will require interaction with IVR Support Technicians, Business Analysts and business partners within the organization. This position will use SQL and Java to perform maintenance, fulfill reporting requirements and research reports of trouble.  This is a fast-paced, collaborative and iterative environment requiring quick learning, flexibility and problem solving.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 Under the leadership and direction of a Manager of IVR Support, the principal duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following in a continuous learning environment.  Resource will assist in the following:

  • Run SQL Queries (process documented/will train specifics) and copy the results to a excel sheet.
  • Run batch files (process documented/will train specifics)
  • Run reports from a web based portal (process documented/will train specifics) and distribute them
  • Run searches on logs to help with diagnostic research
  • Help technical staff with maintenance of tables and property files

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

Undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university at either the Junior/Senior level with a GPA of 3.25 or above.  Student should be pursuing a degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics or closely related field.  Graduate level students will also be considered. 

Abilities/Skills

Students should possess the following skills:

  • Familiarity with windows servers
  • Familiarity with remote desktop
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Teams
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn Splunk
  • Familiarity with SQL – we have pre-written queries that we will share for most things, but some may have to be written – like for table updates
  • Familiarity with Java
  • Strong research, analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills and willingness to learn
  • Willingness to work with and learn new technologies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position.  Occasional walking or standing is required.  The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects.  The associate must frequently talk and hear.  Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
