User Experience (UX) Design Intern

This is a Year-Round Internship. We are looking for students who can commit to work up to 15-20 hours per week during the academic year in the Fall/Spring and 40 hours per week during the summer.

PURPOSE:

The User Experience Design Intern role exists as a hire strategy to bring in incumbents enrolled in an accredited college or university who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in digital design or related field to learn the fundamentals of user experience design. The user experience team delivers brand-defining digital experiences, user experience guidance for all Market Facing Corporate Initiatives, user experience support for day-to-day application enhancements. This is a fast-paced, collaborative and iterative environment requiring quick learning, agility and flexibility. Jump-start your career as a UX Intern today with a seasoned Design Team.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Under the leadership and direction of the User Experience Team, the principal duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following in a continuous learning environment:

  • Create thoughtful and appropriate design solutions by translating research insights into engaging experiences that satisfy user needs, business requirements and technical constraints, whilst following our Design System
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams; UX, CX, Product Owners, and Agile Engineering teams in an Agile/Scrum workflow to design visually-compelling web applications
  • Communication with project stakeholders and business partners within the organization
  • Conduct testing including but not limited to card remote usability testing, and moderated usability testing
  • Review and evaluate site analytics to inform design decision-making
  • Collaborate with developers to understand technical constraints and deliver creative solutions
  • Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to team members and business stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

Students should possess the following:

  • Students must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field of UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design and Information, Product Design, or related field during the time of the internship
  • Must be a Junior/Senior at the Undergraduate level 
  • Understanding of UI patterns and best practices for interaction design
  • Understanding of basic design principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working in a team-oriented environment
  • Portfolio will asked to be submitted for review during interview process (School Projects are acceptable)

Abilities/Skills

Students should be comfortable and willing to do the following:

  • Produce wireframes, mockups and prototypes for testing
  • Prepare and present design concepts to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Partner with development and QA teams to ensure designs are implemented correctly
  • Create, maintain, and adhere to design team expectations
  • Willing to work in a remote capacity
  • Any familiarity with Sketch and InVision is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position.  Occasional walking or standing is required.  The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects.  The associate must frequently talk and hear.  Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
